Movie Maker

Microsoft Movie Maker: Making a Tourism Video

You will be working with a partner for this project (if you choose to).

Assignment: Make a tourism commercial in Movie Maker with pictures, words or titles, music, narration (if you want), and video (if you want.) I will be putting general video footage of Chicago in the Class Folder for your use. You may also bring your own video footage. Same thing with music. Photos can be researched and saved from online. Make a new folder inside your room's folder and name it with your names in order to keep all your files together.

Step 1: Brainstorm Ideas
What to discuss and make decisions about:

1. Theme: Who is your audience? What are you trying to say about Chicago? Example: "Come bring the whole family to Chicago- Chicago is family friendly" (other ideas: sports city, fun place for adults, shopping vacation, outdoor activities in summer, Chicago is a big city with lots of big city things to do)

2. Audience: Who are you trying to target. For above example it would be families.

3. Key Points: What locations, things, and activities do you want to show in your video. They should relate to the theme. For my family example I would include Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Boat rides, American Girl or Lego Land, and maybe some fun museums

4. Music, Text, and Script: Think about background music you would like for your video. Can you bring this saved to a USB? If not, bring a CD and we will rip it. What titles and other text will be in the video? Will you have someone narrate it?

5. Start Researching for pictures: Do internet searches for what you want in your video. Click pictures > see full size image > right-click picture > save picture as >  your class folder (Follow Saving posters) > Make a new folder in class folder and name it with your names > save pictures in your pair's folder inside your classroom folder so that it doesn't get confusing what picture it who's

Video Clips on the Network: In Class Folder (5710room324's Home Folder) is a folder named 4th-8th Final Project Resources. Open it to find the video clips.

Step 2: Learn basics of Movie Maker
We will learn the basics of Movie Maker to get started on creating our commercials. Importing video clips, pictures and music will be covered. In this step just worry about importing and placing video and pictures, and adding music. Don't worry about titles, timing, or narration.

Here are links that review the concepts learned in step 2:
You can start with the first one and to the left of the video you can click "Next" to go through the whole series in order. Link to full list of Video Tutorials
