Goal
Learn how to create a presentation in PowerPoint while learning computer vocabulary.
Description
You will be assigned a group (A, B, or C). You will create a PowerPoint presentation with a slide for each term and definition with example pictures, animations, and transitions. On presentation day, you will be in a group of 3, one student from each letter group. You will take turns presenting your PowerPoint to each other, so everyone learns all the terms. There will be an online quiz at the end of the unit covering all the terms. You can use the embedded Quizlet to practice. Turn in your final project on Schoology.
Assesment
A = Completed PowerPoint with a slide and correct picture for each
term, animations, and transitions.
B = Completed PowerPoint with some pictures missing or incorrect,
or no animations, or no transitions.
C = Partially compete PowerPoint with animations and transitions,
or completed PowerPoint with no animations and no transitions
D = Incomplete PowerPoint missing animations and transitions
F = No attempt at finishing, no pictures, not all the terms, no
animations and no transitionsFinished Teacher Example at the bottom of this page. Can view full screen and pause and use arrows to go at your own pace. Everyone should really study the extra two slides (23 and 24) about storage sizes.
Week 1:
1. Watch tutorial video 1
2. Open PowerPoint and start a new presentation. Save it as soon as you have the title slide done. This way you can save every couple of minutes (good habit).
3. Choose a theme for your presentation and customized the colors if needed.
4. Create a new slide and put in the first term and definition. Do a Google image search to find pictures of the term. Copy and paste them into your slides.
5. Save your work at the end of class to your USB drive. Don't forget to take it with you.
Week 2:
1. Review tutorial video 1 if needed, watch tutorial video 2 to learn how to add animations and transitions to your presentations.
2. Open your presentation, continue work on adding slides for each term and customizing your presentation with pictures, animation and transitions.
3. Save your work at the end of class to your USB drive. Don't forget to take it with you.
Week 3:
1. Review both tutorial videos if needed.
2. Open your presentation, continue work on adding slides for each term and customizing your presentation with pictures, animation and transitions.
3. Save your work at the end of class to your USB drive. Don't forget to take it with you.
5. Log in to Schoology and “Submit” your project on the
“PowerPoint Presentation” assignment page.
6. Next week is presentation week.
Week 4:
1. Open your presentation and press F5 to view the presentation.
2. Get with your group and start with the A group member. Go to his or her station and watch as they present their PowerPoint.
3. Continue on to group member B and then C.
